Before there was a brewery, there was a piece of land, a passion for craft, and an idea of creating something that could bring people together.

Since 2005

It Started With the Land.

Steel Wheel’s story began in 2005, when Harold Kuret and Cindy Blair purchased 14 acres at 105 Powerline Road with a vision rooted in agriculture, craftsmanship, and community.

A decade later, they planted their first hops and began perfecting small-batch recipes using locally grown ingredients. What started as a passion for growing and brewing would eventually become something much bigger.

In June 2018, that vision became Steel Wheel Brewery—Brant County’s first craft brewery.

Set inside a restored 1890s farmhouse and surrounded by the hop yard that helped inspire it, Steel Wheel has always been closely connected to where it calls home.

That connection continues in the brewhouse, where small-batch beer is made with an emphasis on quality, craftsmanship, and local ingredients wherever possible.

It’s a simple philosophy: make great beer, respect where it comes from, and create something worth sharing.

Head Brewer Mitchell Tuckey joined Steel Wheel in 2018 after graduating from Niagara College’s Brewmaster Program and has played an important role in shaping the beer behind the Steel Wheel name.

His approach is grounded in quality, precision, and respect for the style-creating beers that are thoughtfully made, approachable, and meant to be enjoyed.

A New Chapter

Honouring the Past. Building What's Next.

Today, Steel Wheel is entering a new chapter under Steve’s ownership.

From there, it’s about continuing to evolve. New ideas. New experiences. And new reasons to gather at Steel Wheel, while staying true to the roots that started it all.

The vision for what’s next starts with protecting what made Steel Wheel special in the first place-the beer, the property, the people, and the welcoming atmosphere Harold and Cindy created.
